Athens Full Day Tour starts with our arrival to the Acropolis for our first stop to witness the glorious trade mark of Athens & Greece. Afterward you are left to walk to the top past the Temple of Wingless Nike (victory) & through the Propylea Gate to stare at the Parthenon. A masterpiece of engineering & the home of Athena Parthenos. Next to the Parthenon another temple stands in pride named Erechtheion, decorated with the olive tree of Athena & the popular Caryatids Statues.
From the top of the Acropolis you see a breathtaking overview of Athens, the Theater of Dionysos from the 3rd century BC & the Roman Theater of Herodes Atticus!
Part of the old City of Plaka & the Hellenic & Roman forums are visible as well.
Departing from the Hill you see the Mars Hill (Areopagus) known for its public trials in antiquity.
We continue our tour with a second stop to the impressive Temple of Zeus & its Arch of Hadrian! Then we drive by the National garden & the Zappeion Olympic Facility to make our third stop to the marble 60.000-seat Panathenian Stadium, home of the 1896 Olympiad & finish line of the first Marathon race.
Then we drive past the glass statue of the Marathon Runner & visit Mount St. George where we enjoy an aerial view of the Acropolis & Athens.
Returning to the center of the city we drive past elegant neoclassic mansions & stop at the Parliament Building where we see the changing of the Royal Guards in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier!
We continue driving by the House of H. Schliemann, the Catholic Church and see the awesome Athenian Trilogy made of the Academy, the University of Athens & National Library!
Our last stop is to the old City of Plaka & see the old mansions, the Ancient Greek & Roman Agora as well as beautiful landmarks like the almost intact Temple of Hephaestus & the Forum or Arcade of Attalus. Here you can stroll the pedestrian streets with their souvenir shops & typical Greek taverns you can also visit the Museum of the Stoa of Attalos & the Temple of Hephaestos.
